what is reflections?
Reflections is a National PTA Art competition program. Winners from MPE move up to the Wake County Reflections competition then on to State then Nationals. National Reflections winners receive mini grants to further their art education.
At MPE, students can belong to one of 3 divisions:
- Primary - pre-K to 2nd grade
- Intermediate - 3rd to 5th grade
- Special Artist - all grades
This year's theme is "I will change the world by..." There are 6 arts categories: dance choreography, film production, literature, music composition, photography and visual arts.
rules and regulations
Each entry must contain a title and all entries must include an artist statement.
The artist statement communicates what inspired the work, how it relates to the theme, and the content of the work. The statement must include at least 10 words and not exceed 100 words. The artist statement is worth 40 out of 100 points and is just as important as the artwork.
All entries must be done by individual students and cannot be replications.
Only new pieces of artwork inspired by the current year’s theme may be submitted.
Each entry must be the original work of one student only. An adult may not alter the creative integrity of a student’s work and help from an adult or collaboration with other students is not allowed.

how to enter
1 - Log into your PTA account. If you do not have a PTA account, create a free one.
2 - Click here to access the link to the Reflections Google Form (you need to be logged in to access this page).
3 - Complete the Google Form, uploading your work digitally.
4 - Print out the Parent/Guardian permission form, sign it and email a copy to reflectionsMPE@gmail.com or hand it in to your teacher in an envelope marked "PTA Reflections".
Your deadline to submit is 11:59 p.m. on October 27th. Please note all submissions are digital and must adhere to Reflections guidelines for the category.
choose a theme for reflections 2022-2023 and win $100
Choose a Theme for the 2023-2024 Reflections Program! Help National PTA pick the theme idea that will spark fun and creativity during the 2023-2024 Reflections program! The student who submits the winning entry will receive $100 prize from National PTA.
NCPTA will select 5 winning themes in November to represent North Carolina in the contest for the 2023-24 Reflections Theme!
Past themes and duplicate submissions are not considered. This means we’re looking for the most original NEW theme ideas.
The application period for this contest begins on September 1 and ends October 31, 2021. All theme submissions must be entered online by October 31st.
- NCPTA welcomes all students from PTAs in good standing to participate!
- No paper copies will be submitted to the state office.
- Students from PTAs in good standing may submit up to 5 entries
- Themes must be submitted to NCPTA by October 31.
If your theme is selected as one of the five winning entries advancing to National PTA for final judging, NCPTA will contact you to submit additional required paperwork.
