cultural arts showcase
Our Cultural Arts committee organizes arts performances at MPE. In the 2022-23 year, our students enjoyed productions by the following artists: Number Drummer, Baba Bomani, Yasu Ishida, and Grey Seal Puppets.

Advocacy committee/Health & Wellness
Our Advocacy Committee organizes a few Health & Wellness events during the year:
- Walk/Bike-to-School Day
- Operation Gratitude/Candy Drop
- Maniacs Marathon

odyssey of the mind
Odyssey of the Mind is a team problem-solving competition for MPE students grade 2 to 5. Read more about the Odyssey of the Mind program at MPE.

reflections
Pre-K to Grade 5 MPE students can participate in Reflections, a National PTA competition, by creating original works of art following the annual theme. The different arts categories include Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, Visual Arts. Winners at MPE move onto the county level; Wake County winners move onto the state level; NC winners move onto the nationals. Read more about the Reflections program at MPE. yearbook
Every year, parent volunteers form a yearbook committee and create a school yearbook to document the academic year. The yearbook includes individual school portraits (usually from Strawbridge) organized by homeroom, staff portraits, candid photos form school events, photos of school clubs and much more.

battle of the books
MPE Battle of the Books (BOB) is a program for our 4th and 5th graders who LOVE to read. It is a voluntary club where 4th and 5th grade students form teams to read and discuss engaging books together, and then compete in an exciting competition to test their knowledge of the books. Coaches meet with teams once a week until the competition.
