Books that have characters that look like me

Melinda D'Angelone is our administrative intern and she is doing a 'Books that have characters that look like ME' project. She has a fabulous list of books that are very diverse and would be a great addition to our library. This is the link to the fundraiser for this initiative.

Dear MPE Families,

We are excited to announce that our school will be celebrating Read Across America Week, February 28th-March 4, 2022! This is a great opportunity to celebrate diversity, books of different genres, authors, and reading in our school classrooms.

Each weekday has a different theme. We will read and discuss a variety of books with different themes. Each classroom teacher may select their own books and activities to share with their students. In the media center, we will participate in several fun extension activities relating to different books.

We invite students to participate in the daily dress up days, but it is not required. Thank you for your support of reading and all that we do here at Mills Park Elementary.

The theme for Carnival is... Jump Into a Book! The idea is that we will bring books to life through games and activities based on popular books and series.

And with the theme in mind, let's get to work! There are plenty of ways to lend a hand, on your own schedule and at your own pace.

Every year, the PTA runs a silent auction. During pandemic times we continued the tradition using a new, online format. With Spring Carnival, the silent auction is back and better than ever. It will be a hybrid event, with bidding opening online a week before the carnival. Bidding will continue during carnival where the goods will be on display. Something catches your eye? There will be a QR code, so you can bid right up until the rolling close of the auction. A rolling close means not everything ends at once. If you were outbid, take a second look at the items that are still open. Don't miss out! There is something for everyone. Click on MORE to get a sneak peak at what we have so far.
