Congratulations to MPE's counselor Nancy Stavrakakis!

We want to celebrate our very own school counselor, Nancy Stavrakakis, who was recently recognized at the American School Counselor Association gala in Washington DC! We couldn't be more proud to call her a Mills Park Panther and appreciate all the work she puts into the school. What a well deserved honor for Mrs. Stavrakakis!

February is Friendly February!

We need each other more than ever right now! This month let's focus on reaching out to connect with others and doing our best to be a good friend. Our acts of kindness and connection ripple out and impact so many more people than we realize - and they also boost our own happy hormones too! In stressful times people around us may be feeling the strain, so let's try to keep calm, take time to listen and show compassion.  Check out this LINK to see the calendar printed in different languages.

Candygrams for sale Feb. 7th to 11th!

Our student council used to host a Valentine candygram sale pre-pandemic. Some students have expressed interest in having this event return to the school. As we don't have a student council this year, the board will be organizing a modified version of the candygram sale.

How it works - Students can bring in cash to purchase candygrams on specific days. Each candygram consists of a Valentine's Day card and lollipop and costs $0.50. Students will receive the cards at time of purchase. Once completed, cards can be dropped into the Candygram Box in the front lobby of the school. The cards along with a lollipop will be delivered to the different classrooms on Feb. 14th. Proceeds will go to the PTA.

When - Kindergarten and 1st grade classes can purchase their candygrams on Monday, Feb. 7th from 8:45 to 9:15 am. 2nd and 3rd grade classes can purchase their candygrams on Tuesday, Feb. 8th and Wednesday, Feb. 9th from 8:45 to 9:15 am. 4th and 5th grade classes can purchase their candygrams on Thursday, Feb. 10th and Friday, Feb. 11th from 8:45 to 9:15 am. **All cards must be dropped into the Candygram Box by 4pm on Friday, Feb. 11th.**

Where - A table will be set up in the specific grade hallways.

Register for Maniacs Marathon from Feb. 7th to 17th!

Mills Park Maniacs are back! Here's what you need to know. 

What is the MPE Maniacs Marathon? Families get active and walk/run/jog 25 miles of a marathon at their own pace over the course of the event (Feb. 7th to Apr. 7th). The final 1.1 mile is run by the registered students at school while they are being cheered on by their classmates.

Registration - online through your PTA account from Feb. 7th -17th

Cost - $10 (This includes a t-shirt, beads to mark your miles, necklace cord and log. Please note t-shirt color may vary due to what is in stock when we purchase.)

Extras - You will have the option to purchase matching t-shirts for the family. (Thank you to Jessa Bliss for the awesome t-shirt design!)
